One day I will miss tripping over those trucks, trains, & Barbies....

We have been dealing with a few "issues" in our house lately.  And they almost all have to do with the kids putting away their toys, cleaning their rooms, and hanging up clothes and coats and backpacks, etc.

I have tried every organizational system, bribery technique, new closet, bins, baskets, threats...you name it.  And every day there are still toys laying around the family room, living room, dining room, kitchen, playroom (which is great and I wish they would just stay down in the playroom!), bedrooms and even the master bathroom.

And then IT HIT ME LIKE A BRICK yesterday when I was getting ready to steam the kitchen floor!!!!

Someday I will miss this.  I actually got out my phone and snapped a picture.

It doesn't seem possible now and it seems like so far in the distant future.  But, one day I will have to look back to remember when there are fire trucks blocking the dishwasher and a Barbie hanging from the refrigerator door.  I am deciding right now that I will not get hung up on it.  I want our house to be a home.  I want our kids to have friends over and not worry about messing things up.  Yes, I want them to learn to take care of their belongings and be responsible and clean up after themselves.  But I'm not going to allow myself to get worked up and frustrated as I have in the past.  I'm going to miss this one day:)
