Hair Extensions

It's been a dream of mine since I was 6 years old to have long hair!!!!  My hair is very fine and thin, and the longest it has grown was slightly past my shoulders (when I was 17).  Even then, it wasn't the long hair that I longed to have!

Skip ahead a couple years after high school. My twin sister finished cosmetology school and became a successful hair stylist.  So..... my hair has been short (and blonde!) ever since!  I really like it short but it is sooooo much work to style.  I have to style it immediately after the shower while it's still soaking wet, apply mousse and volumizing spray, blow dry, round brush, gel at the roots, flat iron, and tons of hairspray.  And after all that work, it's nothing special!!!

So last week I decided I would splurge and purchase clip-in hair extensions.

I purchased them from Sally's Beauty Supply for around $90. I can't find the exact ones online, but these are close to the same ones.  They are real human hair, so they can be flat ironed, curled, washed, etc.  My plan was mostly to use them in ponytails since I haven't been able to wear my hair back in 20 years!  But I'm on vacation this week, so I have been wearing them down. I'm considering having my sister cut them a couple inches.

I used the clasp-less curling iron to curl them in this pic:

Stay tuned for a post about how to put them in and care for them. As for now, I'm just getting the hang of it all!! Hey, I always wanted to be Barbie....hehehe!!!!

My fave hair products

I was not blessed with beautiful, thick, low-maintenance hair.  Therefore, my hair styling routine is a big pain.  Thankfully, my twin sister is a stylist, and after many years and dozens of products, I think I have found great products for my fine, thin, color-damaged hair (for now!).
Note: I don't have a "chi" flat iron below, but I have a comparable one.  Nor do I have the Revlon hot pink hairdryer (I think mine is blue), but isn't it so fabulous?!!

Summer Haircolor Trends!

On Top of it Tip: Book your appointment NOW with your stylist! Stylists are busy, especially in the summer with weddings and special events (not to mention their own time off for vacation), so book now to secure your appointment.

Many salons will not allow children unless the child is receiving a service, so take that into consideration when scheduling. (Need childcare? Don't forget about all those teens in your neighborhood who are looking for babysitting jobs this summer!)

$Cost Saving Tip: Go for a partial color, where your stylist will foil only the top layers of your hair.
