The Not-So-Fashionable Mom

Hi, friends!  It's been awhile!  With the kids home for snow days and the usual chaos, it's been a little bit of a challenge to keep my promise of 3-4 posts per week...yikes!  But I do have some great new printables to post here in the next few days that I hope you will enjoy!

What have we been up to lately?

I finally updated the kids' bathroom!!!  I painted the walls, stained the cabinets and trim, changed the shower curtain and towels, and got a new toilet seat.  I was a little sad to see the monkeys go...we've had that theme since the old house when Mya was a baby! But I'm loving the owls!!

This is always the worst part of a project like this....the mess!!!

Mason was working hard one evening to help me make stromboli!!!

The kids had Country Western Night at Awana!

We went down to Athens to the Ohio U basketball game last weekend.  It was a last second slam dunk that won the game for the Bobcats....very exciting!!!!

Just Mister earning his allowance...

Mya and I had a mother/daughter night last night.  Dinner out and a trip to Joann's!  She has been planning it for weeks!!!

It was a frigid 5 degrees at the bus stop, but I happen to think the snow is beautiful (and my precious Mya too;))!!!

Enjoy your week, my friends!!! :)Jamie

My Faves - Pinterest Pins

Hi, my friends!
I had originally planned on listing my favorite Pinterest Pinners and Boards in this post, but then decided to share my favorite Pins instead.  Pins that are actually realistic ideas for me to make, create, and use!!!

FOOD & RECIPES
This tip has made my life a LOT easier!!! Use the stand mixer to shred chicken!!!  I do this at least once or twice a week!

Buffalo Balls!!! These are delicious!!!! I took them to a New Year's Eve party once.

I'll eat anything buffalo, but when it's guilt-free it's even better! You can hardly tell it's cauliflower!!

I wish I remembered to make these more often....they are so easy and even the kids love them.  Great dinner idea.

HOME IMPROVEMENT

Gel stain!!!!!!!! If it wasn't for Pinterest, I don't know how I would have found out about this fabulous paint! I have gel stained the cabinets in my kitchen, laundry room, half bathroom, and kids' bathroom.  The only place left is the master bathroom!  It instantly updates a home!

CRAFTS
I didn't make this exact idea, but I made something similar to these adorable storage boxes:

I'm a Sunday School teacher, and the preschoolers/kindergarteners loved these little stampers.  I always have tons of those foam stickers from Dollar Tree, so these were very easy and inexpensive!

I haven't made this striped canvas yet, but with my office makeover happening in February (finally the painters have scheduled us and are set to come next month! Goodbye, honey oak built-ins and hello bright white!!!)

My Faves - Blogs

Happy Thursday, friends!!!

Today's post is continuing with my theme of my favorite social media and websites.  Yesterday I shared some of my fave YouTube channels....I hope you've had a chance to check some of them out!!!  Today I'll be sharing some of my favorite blogs!

IHeartOrganizing - One of the reasons I'm so enthralled with every post and project on this fabulous blog is probably because I'm such the opposite of an organized person!  I tend to be naturally more cluttered and scattered and I have to work really, really, super hard at order and organization!  So it's very inspiring to look at beautiful pictures of Jen's home, where it appears that every last cupboard and drawer is neat, clean, categorized and labeled.  The best thing is that it's not unrealistic.  Unlike some of the organization and home decor bloggers who have no children (where it may be a weeeeeee bit easier to keep a house tidy), Jen does.  I hope you too can get inspired by her projects and organization.  And her photography is amazinggggggg!!!!!

Honey We're Home - Megan is also very organized and has lots of photos of her beautiful home and TO DIE FOR closet!!!! She has great posts about fashion and budget-friendly outfits and shoes and dresses and everything! She's a mom, so I can relate to her, and I really appreciate that she always looks so fabulous, even with a little guy running around!!  I remember when I was pregnant with Mya and some people told me I'd never have time for make-up again.....get real, people!!!!!  We can still look and feel fashionable and fabulous with kids! (I'll save that rant for another blog post;))

OrganizedJen - I first found Jen on YouTube. She is so sweet, you will love her the minute you start watching! She has outstanding videos showing her own home and how she organizes everything from her kitchen to her closet to her basement.  And her little doggy is just precious...with different hair bows in almost every video!!!!  Her blog is a more detailed version of her YouTube channel, with everything from beauty to planners to packing a suitcase.  Please go check her out!!!!!

Enjoy the rest of your day, my friends!!!

My Faves - YouTube Channels

Hi friends!!! Here in Columbus, Ohio we're still smiling from the Buckeyes' National Championship win on Monday night!!!  What an amazing season!

Anyway....this week I'm going to be sharing some of my faves in social media. Let me start with YouTube...

CRAFTS & HOME PROJECTS

pinksofoxy - I love this channel!!! Christine creates sooooo many beautiful home decor projects from pillows to trays to drawer dividers! She is always very detailed in her easy-to-follow tutorials.  In addition to home decor projects, she also has craft projects, makeup tutorials, nail polish reviews, DIYs and more!!  You have to check it out:)

AtHomeWithNikki - This channel covers it all from crafts, organization, entertaining, home decor, cleaning and cooking!  You will love Nikki!  She comes up with creative, inspiring ideas with her own personal touch.  You have to see her craft room....I'm so jealous!!!!!!  I love that her videos aren't too long and she has such a wide range of topics on her channel that I get excited for every new video that is posted! She also has a second channel AtWorkWithNikki.  Please check her out!!!

ORGANIZATION
OrganizedClutterbug - What I love most about this channel is that she is a mom just like me, living in the same chaos, except unlike me, she is brilliant with her organizing ideas!  There are too many YouTubers who have channels with hundreds of videos of their perfect homes and offices and garages where everything is color coded and categorized.....and they don't have kids!!!!  No wonder their spaces are so neat and tidy!!!! (my own opinion, of course!)  But this channel is different.  I can totally relate to her! I love her bubbly personality and her clever ways to get a handle on "stuff" in our homes! And most everything is budget-friendly!!!

2015 New Year's Resolutions

I've never really made New Year's resolutions.  I mean that I've never actually written out a specific list of areas of my life that I truly want to change in the new year.  Until now. As I began typing them out, I realized that I could probably fill up 10 sheets of paper with things I want to do better: be a better wife, a better mom, a better sister, eat less chocolate (let's be realistic, right?!!!), spend less, save more, etc. I  believe strongly in setting specific goals, believing in ourselves, and reminding ourselves the reason for wanting to make changes in our lives.

So of course I have a free printable for you, my friends!

You can do it friends!

And I want to share my resolutions with you! Yes, some are a little vague here on this list, so I will use my life planner to track more specific goals for myself.

The Not-So-Fashionable Mom

It's a frigid 0 degrees here in Central Ohio today!!!  In fact, most of the schools around here are closed for the second time this week....Tuesday due to snow and today due to the icy wind chill temps of -25 degrees!!!

So, what have I been up lately? ......

Last year I used my own printable planner pages and an 8.5x11" binder.  This year I'm trying out the Erin Condren Life Planner.  Only 8 days into the new year, and I'm loving it!!!  It probably looks like a jumbled mess of stickers and washi tape and colored gel pen ink to some of you....lol....but it works for me!!!  My personality type is often a bit scattered and my brain is constantly moving from one to-do to the next, so I need to get everything out of it and on paper as soon as I can.

Click HERE to sign up and get $10 off your first order from erincondren.com!

Here is all the stuff I purchased in my first order (it was a birthday gift from my parents).  The covers are removable, so I got an extra one plus some extra stickers, coil clips, and pen holders. It came with several fabulous free stickers too!

I'm kinda obsessed with gel pens, so Mya and I have had fun expressing our creativity on these bitter cold days!!!!!!!!

Isn't this cake so cool?!!  The kids and I made it last week and I thought it turned out so cute!!!  It was a box mix from Duff Goldman's brand.

Mister was ready to go and play in the snow!!!

BRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

Sorry to all of you Alabama fans out there, but I'm a tad bit excited over our Buckeyes' win of the Sugar Bowl last week and the upcoming NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP game on Monday!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Buckeyes!!!!  I think I need to post a video tutorial on how to make candy buckeyes, what do you think???

Have a great weekend, my friends!!!
