Blingy Letter Decor

When I was browsing through our local Kroger Marketplace over the weekend, I came across these fabulous rhinestone letters!  My picture is horrible, as I was in a hurry as usual, but you get the idea of how blingy and sparkly they are!  They were $19.99 each.  If they had two J's, I would have purchased them along with the "&" that they had since I have been looking for something to put on the wall in our master bedroom (I'm thinking a J&J would look nice by our bed).  Luckily, they didn't have the J's… I discovered I can make them for a lot cheaper!!!

Supplies needed:
Wire hanger
Glue Gun
Non-adhesive Acrylic Gems or Rhinestones with a mirrored or opaque back, not transparent (Here are the ones I had purchased a couple years ago)
Time needed:
Approx. 30 mins.
Age Level:
6+ with adult assistance

1. Twist apart the hook part of the hanger so it is one long wire.  Shape the hanger in the letter you want.  It does not have to be perfect.  There can be points where you want curves.  There can be curves where you want points.  Most of these issues will be fixed when you apply the gems! (Whew!!)

2.  Important: Lay out the gems in the order you want.  Hold the wire letter over top as you decide your pattern so that it measures correctly to the gems. You'll be using a glue gun.  The glue dries very quickly, so it will go much smoother if you have all the gems ready to apply.

3.  Use a glue gun to apply the gems.  Mya, my 6 year-old daughter did most of the gluing for me! Yes, it's that easy!!!

4.  The Final Product:
This one didn't cost me a penny since I already had the supplies.  But I plan to make the J&J with clear gems sometime soon! Mya wanted the green gem on the end since an emerald is her birthstone ;)
