Free Printable Set: To-Do, Food Journal, Meal Plan, Activity Log & Brian Unload!

Last year I posted an organizing printable set that was one of my most popular posts of the year!!  I have created a new version with a black and gold theme!  The set includes a Weekly To-Do, Food Journal, Meal Planning, Activity Log (based on the FitBit app), and Brain Unload! Enjoy!!

New in this set is the Activity Log! Do you have a FitBit or other type of activity tracker?  This is a great way to track your steps, miles, etc. all on one page (and keep you motivated to increase your activity each day!)

Free Printable: BINGO - Top News of 2015

Hello all my friends!!!  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

Each year, I create a video slideshow with family pictures from the year.  I always include a Top News Stories section with pics from the big news, controversies, celebrity gossip, sports, etc.  So I was inspired to create a BINGO game with some of the big events of 2015!!! This would be great to play on New Year's Eve!!!  Paris attacks, Deflate-gate, Star Wars, Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Warriors NBA Champs.......etc.....

Here it is: 2015 TOP NEWS BINGO - Adult Version
(I put this game together very quickly, so forgive any mistakes!!!)

Disclaimer: I do not necessarily agree, disagree, condone, or disapprove of the current events/news items in this game.  I just googled Top Events of 2015 to compile the list.

Last-Minute Gift Ideas $5-$10

I wanted to share a few last-minute gift ideas that are inexpensive, useful, easy to find, and quick to pull together!!!

Soup Mugs and Soup Mix - about $6.00-$7.00 (I paid $5.50)
I gave a set of soup containers and my fave Bear Creek Chicken Noodle Soup to all the ladies at the office where I get my allergy shots.  It was a hit!!! They loved it!!  Originally I was going to purchase these soup mugs from Target for $6.99...until I found some at Dollar Tree for $1.00!!!! They had pink, blue, and green, and from what I could tell, they are a pretty good quality (I hope so, at least!!!). You could also use ceramic ones and any soup of your choice, of course!

Gift Cards - $5.00 or $10.00
When in doubt, just get a GIFT CARD!!!!!!  Our local Kroger grocery store had Amazon gift cards in 3-packs of $10.00.  These were great for the bus driver, dance teacher, and gym/art teachers!  You can purchase Starbucks cards in almost any increment.  I used to feel silly giving gift cards because the person would know how much I spent.  But now, I don't care!!!!  They can get what they want and it's so easy!!!

Bath & Body Works Hand Soaps - $2.50-$5.00
I find that the hand soaps are better than lotion or other bath products because the scent isn't too strong, so you can't go wrong with any of the options. Also, unlike lotions, they will actually get used up to the end!!!  I often throw away old body sprays and other products like that because I have half the bottle left a couple years later. It goes bad and has to be trashed. Not the case with the soaps!!

Any kind of Kits - $2.00-$10.00
Any little kits full of useful items are always appreciated! You can put them together yourself!
1-Purse Kit: A cute zipper pouch or pencil case filled with mints, gum, and chocolates
2-Car Kit: A plastic shoebox filled with wipes, snacks, nail files, tissues, etc.
3-Mom Kit: A clear zipper bag with Band-Aids, Neosporin, Tylenol, hand sanitizer, Shout wipes, floss, disposable toothbrushes, etc.
4-Craft Kit: A photo box filled with glitter, washi tape, gel pens, stickers, note cards, etc.
5-Baking Kit: A loaf pan filled with the dry ingredients for pumpkin bread or banana bread

Hope this helps with your last-minute shopping!!!

Our Family Christmas Card

I wanted to share our Instagram-style Christmas card that I designed! If you still haven't decided on a card yet, these are available in my shop! Turnover is 24 hrs. if you order by 12/22/15!!

On the card we actually sent out, we used our address where it says "The Rathbun House."  It was a difficult decision whether to use my husband's Instagram name or mine, but as you can see, we decided on his!

I hope you all are getting through the chaos of the season and enjoying your time of shopping, family, and food!  Merry Christmas to all !

ELFSTER
What does Elfster do? (It's FREE by the way!)
*Elfster randomly draws the names for the gift exchange!  It just takes a little bit of setting up the exchange by entering emails, needing everyone's approval, etc., but once you hit "Draw Names," each person gets an email with their Person! You can even specify which names someone can't have. For example, we don't let kids get their parent's name.  That way the parents don't have to shop for themselves!
*Elfster allows each person to set up their wish list and you can even mark "Purchased" when you purchase something for your Person.
*Elfster sends reminders for birthdays and allows you to "follow" any wish list within your group.
*You can send anonymous questions to your Person!  This is great if they forgot to include a size or if something on their wish list is sold out and you want to ask them about an alternative!
*You can have child accounts linked to the parent account so you don't need to keep signing out of your own to get into the kids' accounts!

We have a total of 18 people on my side of the family, so this is the best and easiest way to manage an exchange of that size!  WE LOVE ELFSTER!!!!!

Pumpkin String Art with Push Pins!

I was in charge of the craft for Mya's class Halloween party, so I was looking to do something unique with her class of 3rd graders!  I have tried out the string art using nails and wood, but I knew that would not work in the 15 minute time slot we had (not to mention the cost and skill level it would require!).  So.....I came up with an alternative! Here is Mya's:

The kids loved making these and it was a huge success!!
Here is my original version:

I prepared all the supplies ahead of time, which was very time-consuming, but made things run very smoothly at the class party.  Here is a list of the supplies needed:
Green push pins
Ribbon or string for hanging
Pumpkin cut-out
Glue gun and glue sticks
Ruler & pencil
Knife or cutter

I cut out 6x4" rectangles for our project.

Use the glue gun to glue two layers of cork together, with the hanging string or ribbon glued between the layers.  It is necessary to glue two pieces together so it's thick enough for the push-pins to go in but not push all the way through.

I prepared the boards ahead of time and gave each child a bag with the supplies he/she needed for the project: pumpkin cut-out, 16 clear push pins, 4 green push pins, string.  I also glued each end of the string with a glob of hot glue to make the ends strong so the kids could simply poke the push pin into the string's beginning to start out and then again at the end.  No need to tie the string around the push pins!!

The pumpkin shape will be removed after the push pins, so be sure the kids are poking the push pins outside of it, not through it!!

Lift up a push pin and push it through the beginning of the string.  Then just randomly wrap the string  in any pattern you choose!!  Mya chose to wrap a border on the top part of the pins then the remaining string under the push pins, but you can also weave it all on the top part, as in my original version.

Use the green pins for the "stem" or you can use green string as in my original version.

Happy Halloween!!
