Girl Scout free printables!

It must be time to start planning for the next Girl Scout year!!!

I've had many requests to email my free printables lately, and I want to apologize if I do not send them right away.  I returned from vacation last weekend, then this week I've been at girl scout Day Camp!  I will be working on all those requests on Monday!!!

All of my free documents are available via Google Drive and can be downloaded immediately.  If you are having problems, it may be a simple fix with your internet browser, so I suggest just googling the error message to see if there is something easy you can try.  If not (and I totally understand the frustrations that come along with computer issues!!), then I'm happy to send them!

Also--please leave comments with documents that you'd like to see for the upcoming year.  It may be something I've already created or something I haven't thought of yet.  I appreciate all of you who have sent me messages that you are using many of the free printables.....I love feedback!

FREE Printable Notecards - Monkey Theme!

I'm enjoying this week away from home!  We're vacationing with our family at the beach!  But I've had some time to work on a few designs, one of which included a monkey graphic that I created.  So my notecards this week are monkeys too!  Enjoy!

Hair Extensions

It's been a dream of mine since I was 6 years old to have long hair!!!!  My hair is very fine and thin, and the longest it has grown was slightly past my shoulders (when I was 17).  Even then, it wasn't the long hair that I longed to have!

Skip ahead a couple years after high school. My twin sister finished cosmetology school and became a successful hair stylist.  So..... my hair has been short (and blonde!) ever since!  I really like it short but it is sooooo much work to style.  I have to style it immediately after the shower while it's still soaking wet, apply mousse and volumizing spray, blow dry, round brush, gel at the roots, flat iron, and tons of hairspray.  And after all that work, it's nothing special!!!

So last week I decided I would splurge and purchase clip-in hair extensions.

I purchased them from Sally's Beauty Supply for around $90. I can't find the exact ones online, but these are close to the same ones.  They are real human hair, so they can be flat ironed, curled, washed, etc.  My plan was mostly to use them in ponytails since I haven't been able to wear my hair back in 20 years!  But I'm on vacation this week, so I have been wearing them down. I'm considering having my sister cut them a couple inches.

I used the clasp-less curling iron to curl them in this pic:

Stay tuned for a post about how to put them in and care for them. As for now, I'm just getting the hang of it all!! Hey, I always wanted to be Barbie....hehehe!!!!

Drawer Organization Project

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, I reached a breaking point with my bathroom drawer.  In our master bathroom, we have a vanity that includes cabinets under each of the two sinks plus a drawer in between.  Under my sink (which is a fairly small area), I have a plastic storage drawer with my contacts, cotton balls, and q-tips.  And then I have 4 small bins for personal products, sunless tanning, lotions, and misc. The drawer in between the sinks was a complete mess.  I use this drawer to store the items I use every day or very frequently: deodorant, cotton rounds, toothpaste, floss, nighttime face creams & lotions, etc.

So first, I took everything out and wiped it clean:

Half of the stuff didn't even belong in that drawer!!! I have bins in the linen closet for medicine cream and sprays.  Some of the items were expired.  None of this went back in:

My next steps were inspired by this YouTube video I found a few months back about how to make your own drawer dividers.

I used a roll of wrapping paper from WalMart.  It's a nice, heavy quality paper and I loved the teal and pink combo! I measured the drawer, cut the paper to fit, then covered it with contact paper.

I placed the piece inside the drawer.

Then I cut out pieces from a foam board (about $1.00 for the whole board from Walmart) for the dividers and covered them with the same wrapping paper.

Then I just slid the dividers in the drawer....

Custom drawer dividers for only a few dollars and about 20 minutes!!!

The Not-So-Fashionable Mom

I think the stress of summer commitments and activities is really getting to me!!!!!  I've spent way too many days in my leggings and flip flops!!!!

This week of not-so-fashionableness....

Let's begin with the cake that was a giant disaster!!!!!! I needed a cake for VBS and realized the only cake mixes I had were Spice Cakes. So I made one from scratch.  What a mess!  It was so dry and disastrous that I had to use one can of icing just for the middle filling and another recipe of icing for the top.  Fortunately the kids were not actually eating the cake, only looking at it (cruel, I know!).  And I was able to cover it with Oreos to hide much of the problem areas.

Afterwards, Mya, Mason and I had a slice.... of course:)

 

My exercise routine did not go well.  I only did 1 workout on the elliptical.  I also gained 2 pounds this week and enjoyed this fabulous Brownie Batter Doughnut from Krispy Kreme.  I'm blaming PMS. ;)

My bathroom drawer was awful.  A huge mess.  I finally was fed up. Drawer organization post coming soon!!!

On Friday, we visited the Heart of Africa at the zoo!  We rode the train and Mason ate his usual Dippin Dots.  Fun times.

The Not-So-Fashionable Mom

4th of July weekend has become very fun for our family the last few years!  We've started some new traditions including a church BBQ, family photos, and a special dessert!

So here are a few pics from the weekend:

Nothin' like some delicious chicken wings for a 4th of July lunch!!!

These brownies are making my mouth water just looking at the pic.  It just figures that it's the taco salad that I forget to take to the picnic....of course I remembered these brownies. 

Face painting!!! 

This was my 3rd year making this dessert!  I broke my trifle bowl sometime since last year, so a plastic bowl had to do. In this year's design, I selected a blueberry USA surrounded by strawberries and covered with red sprinkles.

My Mister refuses to drink water.  So my mom helped me with this idea....install a dolphin water fountain in the bathroom!!!  So far, it's not working well.  However, Mya and the neighborhood kids love it.  It will save me some dishwasher space using less cups!

Family pic gone wrong?  You can't see the month, day or year.  At least everyone is smiling!!! 

And then there's this idea that went all wrong too....

We got a decent selfie though!!!
