Free Printable: New Food & Fitness Tracker

Once again, I've been a little tad bit of a slacker lately with my workout...then I noticed I put on a few pounds too.  So back to tracking.....this is always a huge success for me.  I've created a new tracker sheet that includes, food tracking, fitness tracking, and ME tracking.  The ME section is to make sure that I'm taking a little time for myself each day.  This could be 20 minutes of browsing Pinterest, reading a magazine, relaxing on the patio, etc.  It will force me to take that time for myself and help me recognize if I get a little too carried away with Me (you know, like if I spend 2 hours on Facebook or something!!!). Behavior Chart: Moving kids' bed time for behavior

Am I the only mom who feels like my kids never do what they're supposed to, follow my rules, or listen to me?  I know I can't be the only one....right???!!!!

My husband came up with this fabulous idea for our kids!  M&M (like most kids, I'm sure) do not like going to bed.  They stall, create excuses, feel thirsty, are hungry, need this, need that at bedtime.  You know what I mean!  So when Jim thought up this idea of using the time they go to bed in the form of a punishment/reward system, I was already envisioning what the chart would look like!

Each day we start the arrow fresh at 9:00. When the kids fight, do not listen, etc., their punishment is an earlier bedtime.  They can also do things to earn their bedtime back (extra chores, help each other, special jobs), as well as earn extra reading time.
Here is the chart I created based on a 9:00 bedtime.

Let me tell you, it has worked soooo well!!! I have not needed to use time-outs and I've cut way back on raising my voice and freaking out!!! It serves as good punishment PLUS gives mom and dad some extra time to ourselves in the evening if the kids are in bed a little earlier! ;)
Let me know if you try this at your house!

The Not-So-Fashionable Mom

So.....what was I up to this past week in my not-so-fashionable life?

Got my roots colored and a little trim.  Scary, huh?

So much for the lovely cord organizer....looks like a disorganized mess!!!

I cleaned out the pantry. So what did I do with all the miscellaneous chips and snacks in those bags that were almost empty???  Blog post coming soon!

The usual silly pics with the kids.

Hope your week and weekend were just as silly as mine!!! ;)Jamie

Happy Back to School Day!!!

Today was the first day back to school for Mya!  I've had so much fun looking through Facebook and Instagram today to see all the photos of kids decked out in their new backpacks and shiny shoes! It's only mid-August, but it felt like Fall here in central Ohio!

We hosted a little back-to-school ice cream sundae party for the neighborhood kids after the bus dropped them off! Turned out to be a fun time for all 20+ of them....probably a new yearly tradition!!

Home Update: New Patio

updated 8/22/14
I'm so excited to share our new outdoor space.....the patio is done!!!!!!  I know, it's nothing fancy, but it is a huge improvement from what was here when we moved in.  And patios are not cheap these days, so we stayed within our budget and now can enjoy this lovely space in the back yard!

As nice as some might think a pergola is, this one was old and rotted and we were surprised it was still standing!!!

We're still deciding on what kind of furniture to put out on it and of course there will be a fire pit!  Maybe an outdoor sofa and chairs and a small table.  So many choices! I'll update this post with pics when we have all the furniture.

We also had a new composite wood landing installed.  No maintenance...that's what I love about it!!!!

Finally....patio furniture!!! We chose the La-Z-Boy Charlotte set from Sears:
